Data helps tell the unique story of your school. There are thousands of different charities and organizations vying for attention (and dollars) from your constituents, and your school should strategize ways to stand out to donors and supporters. That's where compelling data comes in. Data helps tell your school’s story—the problems your school trying to solve, the main characters involved in the story, and how you achieve your goals.

This three-part series will help lay the foundation for determining types of data to use to compel donors and tell your story. The sessions will also dive into how data supports fundraising strategy and effective data reporting and is relevant for both new development professionals and veteran fundraisers.

Program Outline

Session 1: Data to Move your Strategy Forward
Data helps you determine the success or failure of your fundraising efforts. Data-driven fundraising means your school is making decisions based on data. In this session, explore important fundraising key performance indicators (KPIs) that demonstrate your fundraising effectiveness and learn how those KPIs can be translated into effective storytelling to make your case and continue to grow your fundraising efforts.

Session 2: Getting into the Data Mindset
What information do you currently utilize and data do you not yet leverage? What would it take to get you to a place where you have all the data you need? In the context of what you want to accomplish, what are the most important pieces?

Session 3: Dashboards and Reporting
Dashboards and reporting are crucial to sharing your story with your team, including your board of directors. They help you stay focused on your goals but also helps say no to things not identified as a priority. This final session will explore the types of data reporting and dashboards that will best share strategies and KPIs and protect your team's productivity and efficiency.
