Brandeis University offers programs for aspiring and experienced day school teachers. For novice and early career teachers, the Jewish day school concentration within our MAT program provides intensive 13-month (June-July) teacher preparation leading to a Master of Arts in Teaching degree and a Massachusetts teaching license and includes a year-long internship in a local Jewish day school. For more seasoned teachers, the Jewish Day School Fellowship within our Teacher Leadership Program gives mid-career educators an opportunity to learn how to become effective change agents and facilitators of teacher learning in their schools without leaving the classroom. Both programs offer intimate, cohort-based learning experiences that combine theory and practice and promote an inquiry stance towards teaching and leading. Both programs are committed to social justice and to the belief that our day schools should provide ambitious and equitable teaching for all students.
The MAT program offers generous tuition scholarships for day school teachers. The Jewish Day School Fellowship is fully funded for teachers who are admitted.
